Cryptic Crossword: September 2001

Twenty-two clues are of the normal cryptic kind. Each of the other ten clues (to be deduced) consists of definitions of two words of different lengths; in each case, solvers need to locate the shorter word in either OED or COD to find the longer one, which is the answer to go in the grid.
