Official Launch of AskOxford.com

PASSIONATE ABOUT LANGUAGE

Oxford Dictionaries announce the launch of ASKOXFORD.COM THE SITE for everything you need to know about the English language

In conjunction with the launch of the revised edition of the Concise Oxford Dictionary, Oxford University Press is launching a major FREE community website for anyone interested in the English language.

You can AskOxford how dictionaries are compiled, AskOxford the collective term for a group of whales, AskOxford how to complete a job application, and AskOxford to help make sense of text message abbreviations (GR8!) and emoticons. Or you can AskOxford 'What is the origin of the term 'brass monkeys'?'

AskOxford.com is an exciting new website from Oxford University Press designed to help you with all your language queries. The website contains a vast array of resources including a jargon buster, language tips, competitions and crosswords, articles and interviews about dictionary making and the English language. The site also provides an opportunity to ask our experts at the Oxford Word and Language Service about anything to do with the English language.

Kay Celtel, Internet Marketing Developer explains "The aim of AskOxford.com is to share our expertise in the English language and to create a community of language lovers: we are passionate about language and know that many people share that feeling. The site will provide information, fascinating facts, and helpful tips to whoever needs them."

Over the next twelve months the site will be developed further and will contain a wealth of more detailed information, in addition, local versions will appear in all the major English speaking parts of the world.
