  • noun 1 a set of outer clothes made of the same fabric and designed to be worn together, typically consisting of a jacket and trousers or a jacket and skirt. 2 a set of clothes for a particular activity. 3 any of the sets into which a pack of playing cards is divided (spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubs). 4 a lawsuit. 5 informal a high-ranking business executive. 6 the process of trying to win a woman’s affection with a view to marriage. 7 literary a petition or entreaty made to a person in authority.
