noun 1 the action or fact of indulging. 2 a thing that is indulged in; a luxury. 3 the state or attitude of being indulgent or tolerant. 4 an extension of the time in which a bill or debt has to be paid. 5 chiefly historical (in the Roman Catholic Church) the setting aside or cancellation by the Pope of the punishment still due for sins after absolution.
