This or These?

A common mistake is to use the expression 'These kind' or 'These sort', as in 'These sort of situations are always difficult'. The correct forms are 'This kind' and 'These kinds' - you could say either 'This kind of situation is difficult' or 'These kinds of situations are difficult'. A more formal expression is 'Situations of this kind'.
